GMCT offers Community Service Opportunities

The Great Meadows Conservation Trust has scheduled two work sessions, March 15 and March 29, 9 am - 12 am, at our Eleanor Buck Wolf Parcel. The entrance to the parcel and meeting place is at the intersection of Jordan Lane and Hartford Avenue. Visit our Preserves page for more details about our Eleanor Buck Wolf Parcel.

Volunteer workers will be assisting in meadow restoration activities, including the clearing of trees and brush, creating brush piles for wildlife habitat, and removing water born litter and debris. Footwear for possible wet and muddy conditions and work gloves are essential. Volunteers seeking community service hours should bring forms to be signed.

For additional information check here or call Jim Woodworth @ 860-808-9968.

March 15 Work Session - good start on work

Larry Lunden, Land Management Chair and Wethersifield High School volunteer Tarelle Hall joined Jim Woodworth for a work session between rain drops and the high water line. Tarelle gathered two buckets of flood born debris, and Jim and Larry moved the biggest pile of multiflora rose prickers and honeysuckle cut by B&B Landscaping to a "wildlife habitat" brush pile.

MEET THE CANDIDATES for Glastonbury's Town Council

Town Council Chambers,
Town Hall, 2155 Main Street, Glastonbury
Join us for an informal evening with the candidates for Town Council. Here is an opportunity for citizens to meet and influence candidates on the future of Glastonbury. Candidates will be asked questions relating to our environment-our air, water & land; on needed changes in the Town Plan of Conservation and Development; on continuing land preservation and acquisition and on ways to encourage maintaining
remaining workable farmland, as well as to protect our historic districts and a time to listen to our concerns about commercial development and traffic. Written questions will be welcome from the audience.
